How to Play Frisbee Golf

Just so everyone knows, the actual title for this sport is Disc Golf, not Frisbee Golf.  With that said this is how you play Disc Golf.

You can actually play this game anywhere, even in your own backyard.  Simply designate a Tee Box and a Hole (Fence Post, Laundry Basket, etc..).  Take your first throw from the Tee Box, then the second throw from where the first throw lays, and so on until the Frisbee/Disc is either in the container or hits the pole, depending on your rules.  The lowest amount of throws wins the hole and/or round.  If you are a golfer, all games of golf can be played with a disc as well (i.e. Match Play, Stroke Play, Doubles, Best Ball, Best Lie, Scrambles, etc..)

For our Frisbee GolfFest Open 2008 Individual Tournament we will be using the official PDGA rules.  You will be governed by the players within your group.

For our Family/Team Outing the rules are as follows:

·         Scramble Format

o   Each player first throw is from the Tee Box

o   Each player will then throw from the best lie (your choice)

o   Continue this until the Frisbee/Disc is in the basket

o   Your Score is how many throws it takes as a team to make in the basket

o   Mark your score card accordingly and move onto the next hole.

·         The Tee Shot (from the Tee Box)

o   You may run and throw, but if your feet leave the tee box while the Frisbee is still in your hand, it is a foot fault.

§  First time you get a FREE (no Penalty) re-throw.

§  After that you lose your throw in the Scramble Format.

·         Approach Shots (shots taken after the Tee Shot)

o   Mark the best lie with a marker/disc

o   You must have ONE foot either touching the marker or on the marker until the Frisbee is released.

·         The Putt (within 30 feet of basket)

o   Both feet must remain behind the front edge of marker even after the Frisbee is released (i.e. Demonstrate that the shot was under balance and not a falling shot) or the shot does not count, there is no free re-throw for putting.

·         Unplayable Lie

o   If none of the shots of a team can be played safely you may call an unplayable lie

o   This is a 1 stroke penalty and the first shot counts as a stroke (i.e. All Tee Shots went into the woods and your team calls them all unplayable,  your team would now be throwing there 3rd shot – 1 Tee Shot + 1 Penalty = 2 + the next shot = 3rd shot)

o   You can play your shot from its original launch spot or from the point closest to where it crossed the unplayable obstruction or anywhere between these 2 points.

·         Scoring

o   Each team will be given a score card identifying there team (don’t lose it)

o   For Each hole mark down the aggregate throws as a team.

o   1 Throw constitutes each team player throwing the Frisbee from one launch point.

o   If you paid for 3 team players you ONLY get 1 throw for each of the 3 team players

o   If you paid for 5 players but only have 3 on your team, then some of your players may throw twice from each launch point.  You may not throw more than the amount your team has paid for from each launch point (max 5) and no player may throw more than twice from any launch point.
